The 1858 Remington, a solid-frame design that was both elegant and reliable, was the prevailing choice of the military officers in the Civil War.

The 1858 New Army is a six-shot, .44 caliber revolver with a case-hardened finish, steel backstrap. The barrel is 8" and the trigger guard is brass. A 5 1/2" barrel is available.
