Despite what you may have read, they are not called “sack coats” because they are oversized, loose, or otherwise fit like a sack, nor is it because there is no “front dart.” Sack, sac, sacque, etc. all refer to the way the back (not the front) of the jacket is cut; i.e. “sack cut.” This simply means the back is formed of two pieces only, cut relatively straight down, instead of being made up of four curved pieces with hidden pockets in the tails as on more formal and traditional coats, such as tail coats, morning coats, and frocks. Read more about the history of the sack coat.
There is photographic evidence that some Confederate Guerillas, Home Guard, and Militia groups were know to have worn Civilian Sack coats.
*Button Shirt not included.

The ten companies of the Terry Texas Rangers were officially activated into the Confederate Army as the 8th Texas Cavalry Regiment, but throughout the Civil War they were known by the name of their first commander, Col. Benjamin F. Terry, who fell at the battle of Woodsonville. In over 200 battles including Shiloh, Bardstown, Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chichamauga and Knoxville, they gave credence to Gen. John B. Hood's remark that there was "no body of cavalry superior." When the South finally surrendered, there were scarcely enough men left to form one company. This volume of vivid descriptions, of the first-hand experiences of men in the ranks throughout the duration of the war, makes available three of the rarest pieces of Texana concerning the Terry Texas Rangers' role in the Civil War. (The Terry's Texas Ranger Trilogy by J.K.P. Blackburn)

Checkers Game with Field Storage bag
While the oldest known Checkers artifact unearthed in Iraq dates back to 3000 BC, the earliest known version of the game comes from a game called Alquerque, which was played in ancient Egypt in 1400 BC. After years of being played the Egyptian way, in 1100 AD, a Frenchman adapted it to be played on a Chessboard with 12 pieces per player.
Then, in 1756 an English mathematician created official rules for the game, and in 1840 was the start of the very first World Championships. Arthur Samuel then created a computerized Checkers program in 1952, which helped turn Checkers into the global phenomenon it is today.
Will include 24 game pieces and 1 storage bag. Field storage bag is large enough for you to store all your games in one place.

Circlet Rank Insignia
The regulation overcoat for officers was a dark blue while that for the enlisted men was light blue. This was no problem for the peacetime army, but in wartime it made targets of the officers. In 1861 officers were permitted to acquire mounted enlisted men's overcoats. Shoulder straps were not worn on overcoats and adding sleeve braid would be difficult in the field. Worn on the sleeve of the Sky Blue Great Coat just above the cuff. Circlets appear in the Schuyler, Hartley and Graham catalog and were worn by some officers to indicate their grade. Another example of an original can be seen in Don Troiani's Soldiers in America. Also examples of officers wearing them under there coat lapel has been noted.
The circlet reappears around 1867 in the Indian Wars on the Frontier though these also do not appear in the U.S. Army Regulations and photos show that they were worn on the sleeve of the Sky Blue Great Coat just above the cuff

This plate was also documented to be used by some confederates as a belt plate. This may have been a sign the soldier was in the Union army before the war or he may have just needed a belt plate for his belt. We have been told this was an early war photo of a solider. In the photo, the unnamed soldier appears to be wearing two belts under the Federal Eagle plate with what looks to be a rectangular belt plate behind it. See photo.

Standard over the shoulder regulation sling for the 1840s NCO or Musicians sword. Comes with US Eagle baldric plate attached. Adjustable length by virtue of holes behind the plate. This sling is the reason for the belt loops behind all regulation US Cartridge Boxes. As an NCO would not be wearing two different slings at the same time, the appropriate setup would be for him to wear the cartridge box on the waist belt while wearing the baldric. White was the main color for this time, but black is available.
