C&C Sutlery Child's size US Sack Coat.

For fatigue duty, US soldiers were issued a blouse, commonly called a “sack coat”. This basic US 4 button sack coat is made of 20 oz. Federal (navy) blue wool. It has a roll collar, is muslin lined, has an inside pocket, and has a 4 button front of medium 3/4" Federal Eagle buttons.

This Children's Civilian Sack Coat is a style patterned off of coats typically worn by the common man, farmer or shopkeeper. The civilian sack coat has a 5 button front of pewter buttons, with a lay down collar, has one inside breast pocket, and is lined in a cotton muslin lining.

Despite what you may have read, they are not called “sack coats” because they are oversized, loose, or otherwise fit like a sack, nor is it because there is no “front dart.”  Sack, sac, sacque, etc. all refer to the way the back (not the front) of the jacket is cut; i.e. “sack cut.” This simply means the back is formed of two pieces only, cut relatively straight down, instead of being made up of four curved pieces with hidden pockets in the tails as on more formal and traditional coats, such as tail coats, morning coats, and frocks. C&C Sutlery Child's size 3-button shirt of unbleached muslin. This style of shirt features a roll over collar, button cuffs, and a gusseted underarm. The shirt-tail hem is curved. The button shirt is popular for its comfort and style. Made of cotton muslin and is available in unbleached fabric.

The C&C Sutlery Children's Civilian Trouser is made of heavy cotton canvas with side seam pockets. The button fly is lined with cotton to make it more flexible for buttoning. There is an adjustable "V" back on the waistband to allow for waist adjustment. There is a dart on the back of each side that makes the trousers taper into the waistband. Fly buttons and suspender buttons are pewter. Inseam measurement is not needed as the trousers are unhemmed and can be either rolled up, cut off, or hemmed by the customer.

These trousers are worn higher than today's jeans. Order ONE size larger than your child's normal jean size. If you want an exceptional loose fit, order TWO sizes larger than their normal jean size.
