The M1851 Officer 'False Embroidered' Hat Insignia is appropriate for both US and CS officers of the Artillery, Cavalry, and Infantry. It is made of stamped brass from the original dies and has a wire back for attaching to the hat. The SMALL insignia is about 1 5/8 inches wide and 1 1/4 inches high. The LARGE insignia is about 3 inches wide and 1 3/4 inches high.
