Belt - Anson Mills Double-Loop Belt |
|
Invented by Anson Mills, an officer in the infantry regiment of the U.S. Army during the Plains Indian War, who later rose to the rank of Brigadier General, the Anson Mills Belt served as an improvement to the regulation cartridge belt by weaving the the whole belt into one piece without sewing. The belt became popular shortly after the Civil War in the late 1800's. The improved belt was adopted by the U.S. Army, but the quantities needed by the frontier army were low at that time. It wasn't until the conclusion of the Spanish-American war that Mills' factory expanded to be able to produce a thousand belts per day with additional orders also coming in from Canadian troops and the British government. This Anson Mills Double-Loop belt is expandable from 32-inches up to 54-inches in length. The belt holds up to 100 rounds of .45-70 caliber. It is available in Navy Blue Canvas. The 2-Piece 1881 Anson Mills Buckle is NOT included, but is available for purchase at an additional charge. If the Buckle is purchased with the belt, we will install the buckle at no additional charge.Ammunition is NOT available for purchase.
