VICTORIAN ERA CARPETBAG

This "suitcase" received its name because it was made from pieces of carpet material. These were the first suitcases made in large numbers. They were carried by almost everyone during their travels during the mid to late 1800's. Many Civil War soldiers carried their personal belongings in carpetbags.

This oversized bag is made of durable chenille carpet fabric, brown leather riveted handles, a brown leather buckle closure, a reinforced hard-bottom, and metal knob feet. Sturdy side hinges will keep the bag open for filling, or closed when carrying. It measures approximately 24" long, 13" deep, expandable 5"-10" wide. Opens to approximately 10". Available in Blue, Red, or Wine.
